Introduction 👋
With pre-signed signatures, you can sign a signature block directly within a template. Every document created from that template will automatically include your signature(s), so you don't have to sign each document individually.
This feature is especially useful for documents that are created regularly and always require the same signature, such as quotes, NDAs, or standard agreements.
✍️ Pre-sign a template
Open the template you want to use and select the signature block that you want to pre-sign.
Click the signature block to open the options menu. There, you'll find the signature icon:
Select the option to pre-sign this template:
As usual, you can draw your signature, type it, or upload an image of your signature. Once you're satisfied, confirm the signing process.
After the signature has been successfully applied, the signature block will be marked as pre-signed.
💡 Note: Every document created from this template will automatically include this pre-signed signature.
🔒 What happens after a signature has been pre-signed?
Once a template contains a pre-signed signature, its content becomes locked.
This also applies to every document created from that template.
The editor switches to read-only mode and prevents changes to the document structure. This ensures the validity and integrity of the existing signature.
The following changes are no longer possible:
Add or move parties or signatories
Add, remove, or move signature or voting blocks
Add or move dynamic fields
Add attachments or PDF blocks
Move elements using drag and drop
Edit conditions
🛠️ What can still be edited?
For documents created from a template containing a pre-signed signature, you can still edit content that does not affect the document structure.
This includes, for example:
General document settings (e.g. document language/type, teams, tags)
Values of dynamic fields
Information completed by external parties, such as company name or address
The template itself remains completely locked as long as it contains at least one pre-signed signature.
❌ Remove a pre-signed signature
If you want to edit the template or a document created from it again, you can remove a pre-signed signature at any time, provided you have the required permissions.
Click the signature block to display the delete icon:
Clicking the icon will display a message informing you that removing the pre-signed signature will unlock the document content for editing again. To continue, click "Remove my signature":
Once the last pre-signed signature has been removed, the document content is automatically unlocked and can be edited as usual.
❓Frequently asked questions
Why can't I edit my template anymore?
As soon as a template contains a pre-signed signature, its content is automatically locked. This ensures that no structural changes can be made after the signature has been applied.
Do documents created from a template with a pre-signed signature need to be signed again?
No. The pre-signed signature is automatically included in every new document created from the template. Any additional signature blocks can still be signed by the designated signers as usual.
Why does fynk use the term "pre-signed"?
The term clearly indicates that the signature was applied in advance on the template and is automatically carried over to every document created from it. It also helps avoid confusion with electronic signature levels such as AES (Advanced Electronic Signature) and QES (Qualified Electronic Signature).
