Introduction πŸ‘‹

With headers and footers you can individualize documents to your needs and adapt them to your company's CI easily!

Create a header / footer and simply add it to the template of your choice!

Creating headers & footers ✨

To create headers and/or footers, you need to have the "owner" or "admin" role.

Here you can use the [+] Button to the top-right to create your first header / footer:

Now you will be prompted to enter a name for the new header / footer. After typing the name, click the [create] button.

Now you see the editors for your header & footer:

Name:

You can change the name of the header / footer here at any time.

Header content:

This is where your header content needs to be placed. It will be shown on every page of the PDF document as well as once on top of the online document, if you tick the "visible in browser view" checkbox.

Footer content:

This is where your footer content needs to be placed. It will be shown on every page of the PDF document as well as once on top of the online document, if you tick the "visible in browser view" checkbox.

Visible in browser view:

If this checkbox is ticked, you will see the headers/footers in the online view of the document once. (header once at the top and footer once on the bottom of the document)

Editing header / footer content βœ’οΈ

Editing headers & footers is quite similar to editing templates or documents. You can open the command menu by pressing [Command + P] on MacOs or [Control + P] on Windows/Linux, which will give you access to the available formatting options and insertable content:

The available formatting options include alignment, color, highlight, font, lists, line spacing and more.

HintπŸ’‘: If you want to have text with different alignments in the same row you can simply use a table without border lining.

PDF only sections

From the command menu, you can also create PDF only sections, which will not be shown in the online document.

These PDF only sections can contain special variables, such as:

  • page number

  • signature hash (only shown after document is fully signed)

  • signed date (only shown after document is fully signed)

These variables will only be shown in the PDF version and some of them even only in the fully signed PDF, due to the information only being available after the PDF was created.

HintπŸ’‘: PDF only sections may not contain tables, but they can be placed inside of tables

Using headers & footers πŸ“„

Headers & footers as of now can only be added to templates, they cannot be added to single documents as of now.

To use a certain header & footer in a template, enter the template and klick the headers & footers icon in the menu bar to the top right of the template editor:

As long as "Visible in browser mode" is active for that header/footer, it will already be shown in the template (all but PDF only sections)

Frequently asked questions πŸ’¬

Can I use multiple headers and footers in a template?

It is only possible to add one header/footer combination per template.

How can I preview the header/footer?

A simple preview can be accessed in the online document by activating "visible in browser view" for the respective header/footer. To view the end result you'll have to create a document from a template containing a header/footer and export it as PDF.

Will changes to the header/footer automatically be applied to my documents?

Changes to headers/footers will only be visible in newly created documents.
