Connect fynk to your AI assistant with MCP

Connect your AI assistant to fynk using the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and manage your documents with natural language.

Written by Stefanie Kotynek

Introduction 👋

The fynk MCP server lets you connect AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor directly to your fynk workspace. Once connected, your AI can create documents, search contracts, manage signatories and perform many other tasks without leaving your AI tool.

🤖 What is fynk MCP?

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that allows AI assistants to securely connect with external applications.

The fynk MCP server gives your AI assistant access to your fynk workspace. Instead of switching to fynk to complete a task, simply tell your AI assistant what you want to do.

For example, you can ask your AI assistant to:

  • create a contract from a template

  • search for specific documents

  • update document fields

  • assign signatories

  • move documents through your workflow

  • answer questions about your contracts

💡In short: Instead of opening fynk to manage your documents, simply ask your AI assistant to do it for you. 🤓

🧠 Supported AI clients

The fynk MCP server can currently be connected to:

  • ChatGPT

  • Claude

  • Claude Code

  • Cursor

  • any other MCP-compatible client

The server URL is identical for all clients: https://app.fynk.com/mcp

💡Before you begin

Before connecting your AI assistant, make sure you:

  • have a fynk account

  • are signed in to fynk

  • use an AI client that supports MCP

💡Note: Every user can connect their own AI assistant. The assistant will only have access to documents and information that the connected user already has permission to view.

Connect Claude

Website: claude.ai

Prerequisites: Claude Admin permissions

Step 1

  • Click➕ Add custom connector

  • Enter a name for the connector, for example fynk

  • Paste the following URL into the URL field: https://app.fynk.com/mcp

  • Finally, click "Add"

Step 2

  • After creating the connector, click "Connect"

  • Make sure you're signed in to your fynk account

  • Follow the authentication flow

  • Approve the connection in fynk

Connect Claude Code

Website: claude.ai

Prerequisites: Claude Code must already be installed.

Step 1

  • Open your terminal and run: claude mcp add --transport http fynk https://app.fynk.com/mcp

  • This adds the fynk MCP server to your local Claude Code configuration

Step 2

  • The next step is to authenticate the connection in Claude Code

  • Start a new Claude Code session: claude

Step 3

  • Once Claude Code is running, navigate to the MCP configuration settings by typing: /mcp

  • If the fynk MCP was added correctly, you should now see it being listed with an authentication warning

  • Move to the fynk entry with the arrow keys and hit enter

  • Then select "Authenticate" and hit enter again

  • Claude Code generates an authentication URL

  • If the URL doesn't open automatically, copy it from your terminal into your browser

Step 4

  • You'll be asked to allow localhost to access your fynk account

  • This is expected because Claude Code runs locally on your computer and uses a temporary authentication URL during setup

  • Click on "I recognize and trust this URL" checkbox and then click "Approve"

  • You will see a success message that tells you the MCP server is now authenticated

  • If you look in your terminal you will see another success message

Upload PDFs from Claude

To allow Claude to upload PDF files to fynk, enable network access first.

Open: Settings → Capabilities

Enable: Allow network access

Without this setting, Claude cannot upload files to fynk.

  • Once that is turned on, you should see a "Create app" button

Step 2: Create the connector

  • Click on "Create app"

  • Configure the connector

    • Name: fynk

    • Description: optional

    • Server URL: https://app.fynk.com/mcp

Simply configure the MCP server using: https://app.fynk.com/mcp

Afterwards, complete the authentication flow in fynk.

⚙️ Manage MCP settings in fynk

You can manage all settings related to the Model Context Protocol (MCP) directly in fynk. To do so, navigate to Account Settings → MCP.

From there, you can enable MCP for your organization.

Once MCP has been enabled, the following options become available:

  • Connected AI clients: View all AI clients that are currently connected to your fynk workspace, including the user who connected each client.

  • Disconnect clients: Use the three-dot menu [...] to disconnect individual clients at any time.

  • Notifications: Choose whether Owners and Admins should be notified whenever a user connects a new AI client to your fynk workspace.

Supported AI clients

At the bottom of the page, you'll find a list of supported AI clients.

Click the small arrow next to a client to expand a short setup guide with instructions for connecting it to fynk.

💡 Important: Once your data reaches a connected AI client, we can’t guarantee it stays in the EU. That’s up to the client’s provider. Need guaranteed EU data residency? Use the fynk AI Assistant, which keeps everything on fynk’s Germany-based servers.
